The Teach for the Future Fellowship is designed to support teachers in incorporating accessible and effective hands-on learning techniques into their classrooms to improve student engagement, deepen learning, foster essential 21st century skills, and build student agency.
With an emphasis on embedding these tools into existing curriculum and aligning with academic standards, this program will address culturally responsive and sustaining practices, technical skills, and project design.
KID Museum’s Teach for the Future Program is a series of workshops designed for all subject and homeroom teachers from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. The program equips educators with strategies to foster engagement and emphasize transferable 21st century skills and innovative thinking.
During the sessions, educators will undertake hands-on design challenges that demonstrate the impact of using design thinking and maker activities with students in all subject areas. Through the sessions, teachers will use and strengthen a number of maker skills, work collaboratively, and create design experiences to transform their classrooms into the learning spaces of the future.
The fellowship includes three onsite Saturday workshops between March and May at KID Museum in Bethesda, MD, as well as ongoing virtual learning opportunities. The program is free for participating teachers and includes a $500 stipend, materials to use in your classroom, and access to digital resources.
